Communication doesn't have to contend often with the physical barriers of mountains and ocean these days, but there is the noise of the constant barrage of spam and telemarketers in the more immediate means of e-mail and phone.
Try a written letter to send a message that can be read in the quiet.
Once upon a time, mail was the only way to communicate with loved ones far away. Sometimes it took months for a letter to cross the sea and be carried over mountains. But news from a loved one in an unexpected letter was always a cause for rejoicing.
It's still the same today.
