Candles are such simple objects, yet they can mean so much.
The can create a romantic air at dinner.
They can keep away the dark, for a short time.
They can burn in memory of a loved one.
They can be a symbol in a ritual.

Lighting her candle, she retreated as silently as she had come, and, gaining her own room once more, sat up during the remainder of that long, long, miserable night.
Candle – a cylinder of wax with a wick. When candles are lit, the light provided is soft and warm.
The door was still ajar as she had left it, and the candle burning as before.
The flickering flame warms and dances. My eyes are pulled by it into another dimension. The scent of bayberries fills the air.
