It's funny to think about solid things... because solids aren't really that solid once you see them on a subatomic scale...

Matter consists of empty space with incredibly dense tiny spots of pure energy that are likely to be found in some kind of probability wave interference pattern – and these patterns create what appears to be a nucleus and a hull made of electrons on a slightly larger scale, where the atom still consists of mostly empty space.
