It is a religious ritual were they give their body to their God, the guru who promised they will not die if they have no demand at the moment of death like getting enlightenment, then the guru, their God will give them a better body. The gurus mind control of his victims, AKA brainwashing will make most of them apparently die with pleasure while falsely believing not to die.
